This course provides an overview of recent legal and regulatory developments relevant to Florida community associations. Topics will focus on issues affecting boards, community association managers, and management companies, including governance, compliance, operational considerations, and other legal matters impacting community operations.

Attendees will learn about about election law and procedures for condominiums, cooperatives and homeowners’ associations, including eligibility requirements and terms of directors, best practices for remote meetings, vacancies between elections, and election disputes. This course will cover the types of meetings held by Homeowners’ Associations such as meetings of the board of directors, membership meetings (including the annual meeting) and special meetings, explaining notice requirements for each type of meeting and member participation rights, member rights to petition for a special meeting, and voting thresholds/timelines for various actions.

What credit/certification does this class offer? This session will provide Condominium Association Board Members with the Condominium Board Member Certification. Attending CAMS can also receive CEUS in IFM, OPP, HR or ELE. If you are a board member in a homeowners' association or a cooperative association, this is not the certification class for you.
